Professional Development / Conference Days
Midi Health recognizes the significance of conferences, training programs, and meetings in fostering the professional growth and development of our staff. Taking time to enhance growth, knowledge, and expertise not only helps an employee grow professionally but also enhances the overall proficiency and excellence of our company.
This policy outlines our approach to providing dedicated time for employees to attend conferences, learn, and network within their respective fields.
Eligibility
Exempt, provider level clinical employees who work 0.8 to 1.0 FTE are eligible for 2 days or 16 hours max.
Employees must work for six months before they are eligible
Accrual, Allocation, and Carryover
Conference days will be allocated on a calendar year basis and will be credited to eligible employees at the beginning of each calendar year.
Newly hired employees will be eligible for conference day time off on a prorated basis, based on their start date
Conference days are considered discretionary paid time off and therefore will not be carried over from one calendar year to the next. Unused time off will expire at the end of each calendar year.
Usage
Employees may utilize their conference days to attend conferences, meetings, events that:
Provide valuable opportunities to keep current on various tools and trends necessary to perform day‐to‐day job responsibilities
That help employees to be knowledgeable of industry standards
That allow employees to learn new tips and techniques
Helps them to build an informed network of colleagues
Pay
Conference day time off is considered discretionary paid time off
Employees will be compensated at their regular rate of pay for the hours/days taken as conference time off
Upon termination or resignation, employees will not be entitled to receive payment for unused conference day time off
Reimbursement for conference registration fees, travel expenses, and accommodations will be capped at $2000 for full-time clinical employees and $1000 for part-time clinical employees.

Request & Approval Procedure
Conference day time off requests should be submitted for managerial approval through Rippling via the “Time Off” section. Directions for submitting the request can be found HERE.
For the leave type, select “Conference Time”
Time off should be submitted in advance, and will be subject to manager approval.
In the “Why am I taking-off” include the following information
Name of Conference, Meeting, Event
Link to the event
Purpose of the event
Approval is contingent on the relevance of the conference/event to the employee’s position, as well as business needs and the availability of suitable coverage for essential tasks during the employee's absence.
