Recording Hours Worked
At Midi, we maintain comprehensive time records, in Rippling, for all hourly and clinical employees to ensure accurate documentation of time worked, time spent with patients, administrative work, onboarding, training, vacation, and sick leave. This requirement applies to both non-exempt employees and exempt salaried employees such as nurse practitioners, as well as salary employees.
Non-exempt employees are required to record their time in and begin work no more than 5 minutes before their scheduled starting time. They must also record their time in and out for meal periods, and record their time out promptly at the end of their shift. Non-exempt employees should record the beginning and ending time of any split shift or departure from work for personal reasons. Non-exempt employees may never work "off-the-clock.” “Off-the-clock” work is time spent by an employee performing work that is not reported to Midi as time worked.
In addition to the above, nurse practitioners must log their time spent with patients in the Rippling timekeeping system. Similarly, Clinical salaried employees may be asked to track their time spent on patient care, administrative work, onboarding, and training. This will ensure that all working hours are accurately captured for each role.
All employees, whether exempt or non-exempt, are required to track their vacation and sick leave in the electronic timekeeping system, Rippling. This is to maintain an accurate record of paid time off for payroll and HR management purposes.
Since these time records are vital for payroll purposes, employees must inform management if they fail or otherwise forget to record their time in or out before or after any working time. Furthermore, all employees are required to complete their time entries by the end of each day. Failure to properly record time may result in discipline, up to and including discharge.
This policy is put in place to ensure fairness and accuracy in our payroll system and overall HR management. It also ensures that all employees are accountable for their time and are compensated appropriately for their work.
